Ms. Morehouse is the current Director of Payer Relations for a national physical therapy provider with more than 200 locations in seven states. In this role, she oversees the managed care contracts companywide, and maintains ongoing relationships with major payers like Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United Health Care, Humana and Cigna. She also instructs staff therapists and clinic managers in payment policy, compliance, coding and documentation. Her role requires her to collaborate with revenue cycle management, credentialing, information technology, finance, and business development. She is required to maintain current expertise is Medicare policy, HIPAA regulations, and Corporate Compliance. In addition, she oversees the negotiation process and contract implementation, assuring accurate reimbursement following contract execution.
Outside of this professional role, Ms. Morehouse is the current chairperson of the APTA Private Practice Section Payment Policy committee. She leads the committee in assuring that the section is informed of current and upcoming payment policy changes. In addition, she works with the committee to provide resources for private practices to manage changing payment policy. She regularly presents for APTA on reimbursement and payment policy changes, and has several published articles addressing payment issues.
In addition to her work with APTA, Ms. Morehouse holds adjunct faculty positions with the Physical Therapy programs at Marquette University, and University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. She has taught Doctoral Physical Therapy candidates for more than seven years.
Finally, Ms. Morehouse holds positions on the Provider Outreach and Education Advisory Board for National Government Services, a Medicare Administrative Contractor; and the Managed Health Insurance Plan Association Board of Directors in Illinois. She is also a member of the Illinois Physical Therapy Association, and Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association.
